Design Philosophy
Every structure at Maachli was raised without felling a single tree. The cottages weave between the existing plantation, using local materials and traditional knowledge to create spaces that are spacious, airy, and deeply comfortable.
Stainless steel netting on all four sides keeps the breeze flowing freely, while the dense canopy and a stream running through the property maintain a naturally cool microclimate throughout the year. The result is a stay that feels entirely at home in the forest.

Three Guiding Principles
Each cottage reflects architectural values rooted in local tradition, minimal impact, and natural comfort.
Design grounded in local needs, locally available materials, and traditions passed down through generations on the Konkan coast. Tall structures with cross ventilation let warm air rise and escape while cool air flows in from all sides.
Minimum furniture, minimum walls — yet absolutely spacious, airy, and supremely comfortable. Each cottage accommodates two guests and was built without removing a single tree from the property.
Spaciousness, increased ventilation, and a focus on local resources with natural cooling properties. The forest, stream, and open-sided design work together to keep each cottage comfortable without mechanical air conditioning.
